PBF Newsletter – PBF 6.02 “Quick Strike”
*** Aboard the Mon Calamari Cruiser -Windstorm-, Holding Steady ***
1406, Coruscant Standard Time
1706, Relative Shipboard Time
The party still raged in parts of the ship, but Colonels Vykk Tharen and Gavin Phalon sat in a small conference room reviewing the intel gathered on the recent Reconn mission with Spokes and the Fleet Commander, Gavin Cantorph Kravis. They were still in their full dress uniforms, but all four had unbuttoned and unbuckled as much as was possible in a vain attempt to get comfortable.
“Any way you spin it,” the FC said as he pointed to the tactical hologram above the table. “It looks bad for us. There just isn’t any good reason for them to be there.” Gavin sat back down in semi-frustration.
“No reason we know of...” Vykk said as he sipped his ale and wished again that the Imperials had not interrupted the End of Tour celebration. “We began picking up Comm traffic again a short time ago, so we know that stable communication is crucial to whatever they are up to.”
“Which means they have no immediate plans to leave the system.” Spokes stated plainly. “Bottom line is that we still don’t have a clue as to why they are gathering there, what their true strength is or what we need to do to make them miserable”
“Aye. But, the fact that they seem to be relying on a ComSat instead of ship-to-ship communications tells me that there are probably more of them gathering in other Sectors.” Gav Phalon said aloud the one thing none of them wanted to be true.
“Well gentlemen,” the FC said as he stood and grabbed his glass. “Head back in and get us more information. An accurate measure of their strength of numbers would be very helpful, but disrupting their communications is the priority. Either way, I’m leaving this matter for you to handle.”
“I’d add that giving them a good kick would be fun, and, it might force them to bring in some help.” Vykk offered. “We might get lucky tracking their hyper vectors.”
“True. But, I don’t want to lose anyone on what will just be a quick strike.” Spokes said. “We’ll keep this mission small. We just got back from a long tour in the Expanse and none of our Cap ships have completed their refit. Tomorrow morning, grab a couple of sober pilots and send them back in there in X-Wings. Who is on standby?”
“Blue.”
“Good. Put them in B-Wings and maybe we can give the Imps that good kick.”
